കേരളത്തിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തി ആഗോള തലത്തില്‍ എത്തിച്ച വിളയാണ് പൈനാപ്പിള്‍.  മൂവാറ്റുപുഴയ്ക്ക് അടുത്ത് വാഴക്കുളം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതു തന്നെ പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ സിറ്റിയെന്നാണ്. നമ്മുടെ കാലാവസ്ഥയില്‍ പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ നല്ലപോലെ വിളയും, രുചിയും ഗുണനിലവാരവും കൂടും. ധാരാളം സ്ഥലം വേണം പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ കൃഷി ചെയ്യാനെന്നാണ് മിക്കവരുടേയും ധാരണ. എന്നാല്‍ കുറച്ചു സ്ഥലമുണ്ടെങ്കിലും എന്തിന് വലിയ ഗ്രോബാഗിലും ചാക്കിലുമെല്ലാം പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ നടാം.

ഇഞ്ചി പതിവാക്കാം, രോഗങ്ങളെ അകറ്റാം

നീര്‍വാര്‍ച്ചയുള്ള മണ്ണാണ് പൈനാപ്പിളിന് ആവശ്യം. വെള്ളം കെട്ടികിടന്നാല്‍ കൃഷി നശിച്ചു പോകും. ഇതിനാല്‍ കുന്നിന്‍ ചരിവുകളാണ് നല്ലത്. കൃത്യമായ അകലത്തില്‍ വാരങ്ങള്‍ തയാറാക്കണം. നല്ല വെയില്‍ ലഭിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലം മാത്രമേ കൃഷിക്കായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാന്‍ പാടുള്ളൂ. ഏപ്രില്‍-മേയ് കാലത്താണ് കൃഷി തുടങ്ങാന്‍ ഉചിതം. അടിവളമായി ഒരു സെന്റ് സ്ഥലത്ത് 100 കിലോഗ്രാം എന്ന തോതില്‍ ചാണകവും കമ്പോസ്റ്റും ചേര്‍ക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. ഇതില്‍ ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒന്ന് തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാം. വിത്തുതൈകളാണ് നടീല്‍വസ്തു. മാതൃചെടിയുടെ ചുവട്ടില്‍ നിന്ന് വളര്‍ന്നുവരുന്ന തൈകളാണ് ഇവ.  ടിഷ്യുകള്‍ച്ചര്‍ തൈകളും നട്ടുവളര്‍ത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. പത്തോ പതിനഞ്ചോ ദിവസം തണലത്ത് വെച്ച് തൈകള്‍ നടാന്‍ പാകമാക്കിയെടുക്കണം. വേര് ആഴത്തില്‍ പിടിച്ചു വളരാനായി പത്ത് സെ.മീ ആഴത്തില്‍ വിത്തുതൈകള്‍ നടണം. ചാണകപ്പൊടിയും കമ്പോസ്റ്റും രണ്ടുമാസത്തില്‍ ഒരിക്കല്‍ നല്കാം. വളം നന്നായി ചെയ്താല്‍ നല്ല വിളവ് ലഭിക്കും.

പരിചരണം  

കായ്കളുണ്ടായി തുടങ്ങിയാലും പരിചരണത്തില്‍ മുടക്ക് പാടില്ല. പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ മൂപ്പെത്തുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് ചാഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നത് തടയാന്‍ ഉണങ്ങിയ ഇലകളിട്ട് മൂടുകയോ അതേ ചെടിയുടെ ഇലകള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ചാഞ്ഞ ഭാഗം നേരെയാക്കി കെട്ടിക്കൊടുക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാം. വിരിഞ്ഞു വരുന്ന സമയത്ത് കൂമ്പ് മാത്രം നുള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞാല്‍ വലിപ്പം വര്‍ധിക്കും. ഹോര്‍മോണ്‍ പ്രയോഗം നടത്തുന്ന പൈനാപ്പിളുകള്‍ ഒരു വര്‍ഷത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ വിളവ് തരും.

ഗ്രോബാഗിലും വിളയും

സ്ഥല പരിമിതിയുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് ഗ്രോബാഗിലും വലിയ ചാക്കിലുമൊക്കെ പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ വളര്‍ത്താം. കടയില്‍ നിന്നു വാങ്ങുന്ന പൈനാപ്പിളിന്റെ മുകളിലുള്ള മുകുളം നട്ടാല്‍ മതി. ചാകണപ്പൊടി, കമ്പോസ്റ്റ് എന്നിവ നിറച്ചു വേണം തൈ നടാന്‍. ടെറസിലൊക്കെ നല്ല വെയിലുള്ള സ്ഥലത്ത് പൈനാപ്പിള്‍ ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ വളര്‍ത്താം. ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ ചാണകപ്പൊടി, കമ്പോസ്റ്റ് എന്നിവ നല്‍കി നനച്ചു കൊടുക്കണമെന്നു മാത്രം.
